Ashley Mascarenhas holds a B.Sc. (Biology) from Ottawa University and is currently a Masters Candidate at the University of Saskatchewan.  He joined the River Institute in October, 2009 as a Biologist/Educator.  Ashley is working on a joint project with Lafleche Leblanc Soil Recycling Inc. to develop and test new methodologies to examine microbial communities within different soil environments.  He also teaches courses for the Environmental Technician and Bachelor of Nursing programs at St. Lawrence College (Cornwall campus).
