| Since 1997 the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences has provided area youth with the opportunity to explore nature at Cooper Marsh through the Eco-Friends Day Camp. The camp challenges participants to learn about science and the natural environment in a hands on, minds-on manner. Seven exciting new one-week sessions will be available for children aged 6-11 in 2011. Sessions include a combination of hiking, frog catching, pond dipping, games, crafts, scientific experiments and much much more. You must read the registration package before registering online. Camp Themes 2011 Science Week - THINK LIKE A SCIENTIST (July 4 - 8) Who are scientists and what do they do? Come hang out with scientists for the week. Do a bunch of super cool experiments while you explore all the different fields of science. Fish Week - GET HOOKED (July 11 - 15) Come and learn all about our scaly friends and other aquatic life this week. From fish to frogs and turtles to toads, you'll get to learn and see it all at Cooper Marsh. Be ready for a wet and wild week! Dino Week - DINOSAURS OF TODAY (July 18 - 22) Sharks, turtles, alligators and birds, what do they all have in common? They are all modern dinosaurs! Find out just what the animals of today have in common with our Jurassic friends! Bug Week - BUGMANIA! (July 25 - 29) It’s all about the creepy crawly critters this week! Let’s discover the crazy wonderful ways insects have become the most fascinating creatures on Earth. Get ready to get your hands dirty while we go searching for our six legged friends! Invasive Species Week - THE INVADERS ARE HERE! (August 2 - 5 (4 day week)) Invaders are taking over our marsh! Nope, not creatures from space. Animal and plant invaders. This week we are on a quest to stop the invaders. Come jump in the marsh and find out everything you need to know about those alien creatures. Earth Week - SUPERHEROES OF THE EARTH (August 8 - 12) We’re on a quest to save the planet and we need you! Come learn how you can make a difference and help make sure our marsh stays green. We are going to have so much fun this week making eco-friendly crafts, doing activities and playing games! Reptiles and amphibians Week - SCALES SKIN AND SLIME (August 15-19) Turtles, frogs and salamanders, alike it’s your week to shine! We are going to have fun this week learning all about reptiles and amphibians while playing games, doing crafts and discovering the marsh! Ribbit - Ribbit!
