Fleming Co-op Students

Bill Hyatt and Ryan Duncan are students in the Fish and Wildlife Technology program at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Lindsay, Ont. who recently spent a 2-week co-op placement at the River Institute. Their placement involved assisting River Institute scientists with research involving tracking and locating fish with radiotransmitters, and developing a scientific key for fish identification. Bill and Ryan also helped to supervise and deliver water conservation messages and activities at the Eastern Ontario Children's Water Festival at Upper Canada Village.

Cooper Marsh Wine and Cheese – October 15

On Sunday, October 15, 2006, the Cooper Marsh Conservators are hosting the annual Harvest Wine and Cheese at Cooper Marsh from 2:00-5:00 pm. A guided walk through the Marsh will be led by Bruce Doran, from the River Institute. Tickets are now on sale for $10 each and can be purchased at the River Institute. With the active participation and partnership of the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences, the conservators’ intention is to encourage the public to become aware of the flora and fauna in our environment and the responsibilities we have regarding that environment.
