The River Institute provides field and
laboratory-based services in support of environmental monitoring and
analysis. Its laboratory is accredited nationally to ISO 17025
standards by the
Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation Inc. (CALA). We also provide services in support of industrial
research and development related to environmental technologies.
Environmental Consulting - The River Institute accepts a broad range of contracts
for biological and chemical monitoring for its clients. Examples of
past consulting projects include the bio-chemical assessment of small
urban waterways, zebra mussel monitoring in industrial water pipes,
and relocating and deterring bats from buildings. River Institute consulting
work is backed by its own ISO-certified laboratory.
Education & Training
Scientists at the River Institute provide teaching
and training in a variety of formats, including colleges, CÉGEPs
and universities. The River Institute also gives additional training
to technicians from other laboratories through work exchange programmes
and on a fee-for-service basis.
The River Institute delivers hands-on, minds-on educational programmes
to elementary and secondary school classes through contracts with school
boards and on a programme-by-programme basis.
