Eco Friends Camp

Since 1997, the River Institute has provided local youth with the opportunity to explore nature at Cooper Marsh through the Eco- Friends Summer Day Camp. The camp challenges participants to learn about science and the natural environment in a hands-on, minds-on manner. Four exciting one-week sessions are available for children ages 6-11 from 9am to 4pm* at the Cooper Marsh Conservation Area. Sessions include a combination of hiking, frog catching, pond dipping, games, crafts, scientific experiments and much much more.

Week One | Science Rocks! (July 20-24)

Calling all little Einsteins! If you love science, experiments, and making great discoveries, this is the week for you.

Week Two | All About Fish (July 27-31)

Explore the fascinating world of fish found in the St. Lawrence River. Learn about their different shapes and sizes while examining some live species for yourself. Get ready for a wet and wild week!

Week Three | Into the Wild (August 4-7)

Come explore the fascinating world of the creatures that surrounds us. Get your hands dirty as we delve into their habitats and closely examine critters under the microscope.

Week Four | Nature Canvas (August 10-14)

Explore your creative side and learn the many aspects of art including: music, dancing and painting while using inspirations from nature.

Junior Scientist Camp

Since 1997 the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences has provided local youth with the opportunity to explore nature. The Jr. Scientist Camp challenges participants to learn about science and the natural environment in a hands on, minds-on manner. This program, offered for two weeks, is for 12 to 15 years old who want to dive deeper into science. Participants experience environmental biology by assisting the River Institute’s scientists with their ongoing research initiatives. This camp is from 9am to 4pm at the River Institute*.

*Maximum of 8 participants per week.
